For this school term’s culture class, we went to see Nanta in Myeongdong. It actually was my second time experiencing this amazing show which I first saw when I visited Korea 3 years ago. I enjoyed it so much that it became one of my most cherished memories from back then. After seeing it again, I think I fell in love with this humorous performance even more.<\/p>\n

Nanta is a non-verbal show combining Samulnori (\uc0ac\ubb3c\ub180\uc774), Korea’s traditional percussion music, with comedy. The story is set in a restaurant’s kitchen where 3 cooks vigorously try to prepare a wedding buffet while teaching their manager’s nephew how to cook. During the performance, the actors constantly interact with the audience and some spectators are even pulled on stage to fulfill certain tasks like piling up dumplings.<\/p>\n

Before, as well as after the show, you can even buy Nanta merchandise such as aprons, mugs and t-shirts:<\/p>\n

Since there are almost no dialogues, Nanta is a spectacle which everyone can enjoy. Its appeal to a wide audience has made it one of the most famous performances in the whole world and I highly suggest putting it on your to-do list when you come to Korea.<\/p>\n

Important information<\/em><\/span><\/h1>\n

First of all, at the end of the show, some flashy lights pop up now and then, so photosensitive epilepsy patients should refrain from watching it.<\/p>\n

Where to watch Nanta?<\/em><\/p>\n

Nanta has 3 theatres in Korea, 2 in Seoul (Chungjeongno and Myeongdong) and 1 on Jeju Island. There’s even a Nanta auditorium in Bangkok, so if you’re in the capital of Thailand, why not have a look?!<\/p>\n

How much does it cost?<\/em><\/p>\n

Tickets cost around 40,000 to 70,000 won depending on your seat selection. I know this might seem a bit expensive but trust me, it’s worth every single penny!<\/p>\n
